Industrial Design Firm Launches Dream Station

Greenville, NC -- July 10, 2003 -- The Dream Station streamlines the delivery of entertainment, education and therapy to children in long-term care. Whether users want to download homework, chat with peers, e-mail family members or look up medical information, the Dream Station delivers.

Matt Carbone, owner of Ideations LLC, started to work with children while still a student at Syracuse University. He and his team collected spare parts to help children with disabilities communicate via computers -- for a fraction of the cost of commercial products. CNN, ABC News and local media have featured Carbone's work. Since then, this group of students has evolved into a company of experienced professionals that maintains a focus on innovation.

Carbone says the company's philosophy is to, "design stuff that works -- that simple."

Ideations benefits from a nationwide network of professionals. So when Dr. Rahul Panesar contacted the company to develop the Dream Station, Ideations was in a position to respond.

"The Dream Station came about because a doctor came to us looking for a way to entertain kids in a pediatric department. (Dr. Panesar) wanted to distract children from the diseases they have and the treatments they receive" Carbone said.

Carbone assembled a team of engineers, artists and healthcare workers to design an all-in-one product that delivers education, entertainment and recreation to patients without upsetting the clinical environment.

Unlike similar products, the Dream Station offers the convenience of a single component that is easy to maneuver, adapts to the child and can be stowed out of the way.

Carbone is proud that with the Dream Station, Ideations continues to "break down barriers."
